The USS Casimir Pulaski (SSBN-633) was named after Casimir Pulaski, a Polish General who served in the American Revolutionary War from 1745-1779. The order for its creation was placed on July 20, 1961. The submarine was constructed by the General Dynamics in Groton, Connecticut. Construction began on January 12, 1963 and it was successfully launched on February 1, 1964. Mrs. John A. Gronouski Jr. sponsored the submarine which was commissioned on August 14, 1964.

The USS Casimir Pulaski was active for 29 years and 7 months before being decommissioned and stricken on March 7, 1994.

The USS Casimir Pulaski motto was 'Per Tridentem Libertas' which translates to 'Freedom through Seapower'. The submarine ultimately met its fate through the Ship-Submarine Recycling Program, with the scrapping process completed on October 21, 1994.
