The USS Liddle (DE-206) was named after William P. Liddle and ordered in 1942. It was built at the Charleston Naval Shipyard in North Charleston, South Carolina. The construction of the ship started on June 8, 1943, and was launched on August 9, 1943. The USS Liddle was first commissioned on December 6, 1943, and later decommissioned on June 18, 1946.

The USS Liddle was reclassified as APD-60 on July 5, 1944. Subsequently, it was recommissioned on October 27, 1950, and decommissioned again on February 2, 1959. The ship was recommissioned for the last time on November 29, 1961, before being decommissioned for the last time on March 18, 1967, having been in service for a cumulative time of approximately 19 years 11 months. It was stricken on April 5, 1967.

The USS Liddle received 4 battle stars for its service in World War II. Its fate was decided on June 25, 1967, when it was sold for scrap.
