USS Springfield (CL-66)

The USS Springfield (CL-66), named after the cities of Springfield in Illinois and Massachusetts, was built by Bethlehem Steel in Quincy, Massachusetts. The ship's keel was laid down on February 13, 1943, and it was launched a year later on March 9, 1944. The Springfield was commissioned into service on September 9, 1944. In total, the Springfield was active for about 20 years and 8 months.
