Over its active years, the USS Valley Forge underwent multiple reclassifications: first, it was reclassified as CVA-45 on October 1, 1952, then as CVS-45 on January 1, 1954, and finally as LPH-8 on July 1, 1961. Identifiable by the callsign NKEU and the hull number CV-45, the fate of the ship was to be scrapped in October 1971.
