Eagle-Picher Asbestos Trust Fund: Claim Types, Payments and Legal Options

The Eagle-Picher Industries Personal Injury Settlement Trust, established in 1996, serves to manage and resolve asbestos-related injury claims. This guide provides an overview of its creation, primary functions, and key contact details.

Introduction to Eagle-Picher Asbestos Trust

In the early 1990s, a significant shift occurred in the way asbestos-related personal injury claims were managed by Eagle-Picher Industries, Inc. After filing for bankruptcy under Chapter 11, the corporation took an essential step in 1996 to create a dedicated trust, ensuring a streamlined process for claim submissions and resolutions.

Eagle-Picher Asbestos Trust Purpose and Functions

The Eagle-Picher Industries, Inc. Personal Injury Settlement Trust, commonly known as EPI Trust, came into existence on November 29, 1996. Its primary goal is to assess, liquidate, and dispense funds for legitimate asbestos personal injury claims. This is carried out in strict accordance with the Claims Resolution Procedures.

The decision to form the EPI Trust was instrumental in creating a focused and dedicated system to deal with the onslaught of asbestos-related claims, and the Trust began its operations by welcoming claims from August 1, 1997.

Eagle-Picher Asbestos Trust Claim Submission and Resolution

To facilitate the smooth submission and resolution of claims, the EPI Trust collaborated with the Claims Processing Facility, Inc., strategically located at the East-West Corporate Center in Naperville, IL. This facility acts as the primary contact point for all matters related to the EPI Trust.
