USS Brough (DE-148)

The USS Brough (DE-148) was named in honor of David Atkins Brough. It was built by the Consolidated Steel Shipyard in Orange, Texas. The construction of the ship began on January 22, 1943, and it was launched later that year on April 10, 1943. Officially commissioned on September 18, 1943, the USS Brough remained active for nearly 22 years until it was decommissioned in June 1965.

However, USS Brough it was not stricken from the naval register until November 1, 1965. The ship's motto was 'Frontier Guardian, In Peace, In War.' Ultimately, the USS Brough met its fate in 1967 when it was sold for scrap.
