USS Cascade (AD-16)
The USS Cascade, named after the Cascade Range, was built by Western Pipe & Steel in San Francisco, California. It was launched on June 6, 1942, then commissioned on March 12, 1943. After its service, it was decommissioned on February 12, 1947. However, it was recommissioned on April 5, 1951, and remained operational until its final decommission on November 22, 1974. The vessel was active for a total of approximately 26 years and 8 months.
The USS Cascade was stricken from the naval register on November 23, 1974. Operating under the motto "We Serve", the ship's fate was sealed on October 1, 1975, when it was sold for scrapping.
