USS Hamul (AK-30, AD-20)
The USS Hamul, built by the Federal Shipbuilding & Drydock in Kearny, New Jersey, was laid down on March 6, 1940, as the SS Sea Panther and launched a month later on April 6, 1940. It was commissioned as the USS Hamul on June 14, 1941, and remained active for 21 years, eventually being decommissioned on June 9, 1962.
During its service, USS Hamul was reclassified as a Cargo Ship (AK-30) on its commissioning date and later as a Destroyer Tender (AD-20) on January 7, 1943. Following its decommission, the Hamul was transferred to the Maritime Administration on September 25, 1962, and was sold for scrapping on October 16, 1975.
