USS Hanson (DD-832)
The USS Hanson (DD-832) was named after Robert M. Hanson. Its construction began on October 7, 1944, at Bath Iron Works in Bath, Maine, and was launched on March 11, 1945. Mrs. Harry A. Hanson sponsored the ship, and it was officially commissioned on May 11, 1945.
Serving for nearly 28 years, the Hanson was decommissioned on March 31, 1973. During its service, the ship underwent reclassification twice: as DDR-832 on March 8, 1949, and later as DD-832 on April 1, 1964. The ship was stricken on the same day it was decommissioned.
USS Hanson used the call sign NBBA, bore the hull number DD-832, and operated out of its homeport in San Diego, armed with the motto "All Seas." After being decommissioned, it was transferred to the Republic of China on April 18, 1973.
