USS Haverfield (DER-393)
The USS Haverfield (DER-393) was named after James Wallace Haverfield. It was built at the Brown & Root Shipyard in Houston, Texas. The construction of the naval vessel commenced on July 1, 1943, and it was officially launched on August 30, 1943. The USS Haverfield was commissioned into service on November 29, 1943, and later reclassified as DER-393 on September 2, 1954.
After serving actively for approximately 25 years and 7 months, USS Haverfield was decommissioned on June 2, 1969. On the same day, it was also stricken from the naval register. The ship met its ultimate fate on December 15, 1971, when it was sold for scrapping.
