The USS Jason was commissioned on June 19, 1944, and remained active for 51 years and 5 months until it was decommissioned on June 24, 1995.
USS Jason was reclassified from ARH-1 to AR-8 on September 9, 1957. On June 24, 1995, the USS Jason was stricken from the naval record.The ship adopted the motto "Ready, Willing, Able," and was affectionately nicknamed the "Jolly J".
During its service, the USS Jason was awarded the Korean Service Medal and three campaign stars for its participation in the Vietnam War. The ship met its fate in 2007 when it was scrapped.
