It was renamed Paul Revere on June 4, 1957, and it was reclassified twice, first to APA-248 on June 4, 1957, and later to LPA-248 on January 1, 1969. The ship was stricken from the Naval Register on January 1, 1980. Its fate was sealed when it was sold to Spain on January 17, 1980.
